About Brook Farm Vineyards

Leading the US in breweries per capita, Vermont’s alcohol industry was well on the rise.  Wine had yet to make its mark on the state and the owners of the Bates Mansion saw a great opportunity leading to the foundation of Brook Farm Vineyards.  Tasked with curating the true Vermont experience for all of our guests, we set off to design the Brook Farm Vineyards brand.

Logo Design

Constructed in 1894, The Bates Mansion has since been designated as a National Historic Trust site. The long legacy and history of the mansion served as a perfect focal point and face for the winery. Pen and ink drawings helped to create an authentic Vermont aesthetic for the winery.

Packaging Design

The owners sought an aesthetic reflective of the historic property for their inaugural vintages. Included in the marketing collateral were intricate pen and ink drawings of the various buildings found throughout the estate. With the legacy of the estate as the focal point of our branding, I combined these drawings to create a panorama of the property. Each building represented a different varietal so that when in sequence, the wine bottles reflected the entirety of the property. Working within the confines of regulations set by the TTB, our labels gained approval and were ready in time for production.

Tasting Room

We sought to cultivate a unique and true Vermont experience while patrons sampled wine and took in the picturesque countryside. In our outdoor tasting room visitors sampled wine by fire pits as they looked over the vineyard out toward the Green Mountains. Utilizing the entirety of the stunning property, we curated a special pond-side event under the stars that we dubbed “Firewater”. Visitors enjoyed wine and charcuterie as the light from a bonfire we floated on a pond reflected across the water.

Web Design

Our site focused on the estate and surrounding landscape to give users a connection with the stunning property. The extensive history of the estate was highlighted on the website yet it remained out of the way of users that were in search of quick information.

Menu Design

Our menu was a continuation of the pen and ink aesthetic that featured the natural feel that visitors come to Vermont in search of. The mansion and various buildings on the property remained a focal point of our design.
